How Does Your Team Compare To Last Season Part 2 | Opta Stats Comparison

After comparing Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool in Part One (https://www.eplindex.com/14318/how-does-your-team-compare-last-season-opta-stats.html) we will now look at how Everton, Fulham, West Brom, Sunderland and Stoke have compared to last season via their Opta Stats.

Everton

Everton have conceded 0.10 fewer goals per game this season and kept 3 more clean sheets. They have also improved their passing accuracy by 1.24%.

However, it has also taken Everton 1.10 minutes longer to create a chance this season and an extra 2 minutes to score a goal. Their crossing accuracy is also 2% worse than last season and they have scored 4 fewer goals.

They have converted 13% of their chances this season, which is exactly the same as last season and taken a minute longer to have a shot. Everton have also taken 54 fewer shots this season and had 30 fewer shots on target.

Everton have created 44 clear-cut chances this season, which is 13 fewer than last season. It has also taken them 80 minutes to create a clear-cut chance, which is 17 minutes longer than last season. Although, they have converted 32% of their clear-cut chances in both seasons.

They have also made 3% fewer passes in the attacking half of the pitch this season but made 9% more in the final third of the pitch.

So, although Everton have improved the defensive side of their game this season they have created fewer overall chances and fewer clear-cut chances. This is the main part of their game that they need to improve on next season as they have been consistent in converting their chances and it has only taken them an extra 2 minutes to score a goal this season. This may be down to the loss of Mikel Arteta though, so if they can find a replacement for him and keep up the good defensive work next season then Everton will keep improving.

Fulham

Fulham have conceded 0.20 more goals per game this season than they did last season and kept 3 less clean sheets. Although, they have completed 78.92% of their passes this season, which is 5.74% more than last season.

Fulham’s crossing accuracy is 1% worse than last season and it has taken them an extra 0.05 minutes to create a chance. They have scored 3 less goals this season and it has taken an extra minute to score a goal.

They have converted 1% more of their chances this season but taken 33 less shots than last season. Although, it has taken them 9 minutes to have a shot in both seasons and they have had 10 more shots on target this season.

Fulham have also created the same amount of clear-cut chances as last season, but it has taken them 2 minutes less to create them. However, they have converted 4% less of the clear-cut chances that they created.

They have also made 9% fewer passes in the attacking half of the pitch this season but made 4% more passes in the final third.

Therefore, the main area that Fulham need to improve on next season is the defensive side of their game as they have conceded more goals per game this season and kept fewer clean sheets than last season. They also need to make sure that they convert the clear-cut chances that they create, but if they can keep hold of Pogrebnyak then I can see this statistic improving next season.

West Brom

West Brom have improved on the defensive side of their game significantly this season as they have kept 8 more clean sheets and conceded 0.56 fewer goals per game than last season.

They have also been 2% more successful with their crossing accuracy but have completed 0.98% fewer of their passes this season. The time it has taken to create a chance is pretty similar however it has taken 19 minutes longer to score a goal.

West Brom have scored 15 fewer goals this season and converted 11% of their chances, which is 2% down on last season. They have also had 75 fewer shots and 30 fewer shots on target.

It has also taken them 36 minutes longer to create a clear-cut chance as they have only created 32 clear-cut chances this season compared to last season when they created 49. They have converted 38% of the clear-cut chances that have been created this season, which is 2% less than the previous season.

West Brom have made 2% more passes in the attacking half of the pitch this season and made 10% more passes in the final third of the pitch.

So, even though West Brom have improved a lot defensively this season they have not done as well going forward.
