Aguero agrees contract extension | Aguero 2013 Stats

Following recent disappointments with finishing behind United, the sacking of Roberto Mancini and losing the FA cup final to Wigan, Manchester City fans finally have some good news in the form of a contract extension for Sergio Aguero.

The striker, who scored the now famous goal against QPR that won City the Premier League title last season, signed on for one more year – meaning his contract now holds him to the Etihad until the summer of 2017.

Speaking to the official City website, Aguero said:
I’m very happy at City and I feel very appreciated. It’s been barely two years since I’ve arrived and sometimes I feel like I’ve been here for all my life.
Since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2011, the Argentinian has scored 47 goals in 69 starts for the club, and has become a firm favourite with the City supporters. Speaking of this, Aguero said, “I have a fantastic relationship with the fans, and that always reminds me of our title and that goal against QPR. I can never forget that moment.”

Speculation has dogged the striker all season, with moves to both Barcelona and Real Madrid being mooted in the media. Aguero however maintains that he is happy in Manchester and already thinking about the start of the new season. “Now I am looking forward to next season and pushing hard to win the title again,” he said.

This deal is the latest in a line of contract extensions at Manchester City with Yaya Toure, Gael Clichy and David Silva all pledging their futures to the club, and is sure to be great news for whoever the new City manager may be.

City are currently on an end of season trip to the USA, where they are playing friendly matches against Chelsea.
