Reds face biggest test of title credentials | City Vs Liverpool Preview

Liverpool may have put five past Tottenham last time out on the road but they will have to deliver one of their best away performances in recent years to leave the Etihad Stadium with all three points.

City have been unstoppable at home in the Premier League this season, scoring 35 goals in eight straight wins, with 22 of those coming in their last four games. They have put six past Tottenham and Arsenal, and scored seven in a demolition of Norwich.

Rivals Manchester United were also put to the sword at the Etihad and City will fancy their chances of adding Liverpool to their list of victims on Boxing Day, despite the way the Reds have been performing.

Like City, Brendan Rodgers’ side have been scoring goals for fun. They have found the net 14 times in their last three games, with Luis Suarez in the form of his life, which is no mean feat considering his career to date. The Uruguayan scored eight of those goals and now has 17 in 11 league games.

While Liverpool were highly impressive at White Hart Lane, Spurs were very poor. The Reds will miss Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge more at the Etihad than they did in north London.

It would take a brave punter to bet against City in the form they have been in at home but those who fancy it can get a Liverpool win at 16/5 with BetVictor.

It is difficult to see it the way City have been taking teams apart. They will be without the injured Sergio Aguero but they managed four without him in the second half against Arsenal and have plenty of firepower in reserve.

Liverpool have as good a chance as any of becoming the first side to leave City with something this term. To achieve that they must do what all those before them, with the exception of Hull, have not managed to do – stop Manuel Pellegrini’s men from scoring early. If they fail to do that, it could be a long evening.
