Columbian midfielder set for Blues move

Chelsea seem to be keen to bolster their midfield ranks with a move for Columbian midfielder Fredy Guarin. Talks are apparently underway between Inter Milan and Chelsea over a possible £15million pounds move in the January transfer window.

Guarin’s agent Marcelo Ferreyra has confirmed talks have been held already and he has been quoted as saying “We have already been to London with Inter and met with Chelsea directors to make their interest formal.

“If both clubs reach an agreement, a transfer is an option, but Fredy is happy at Inter as well if they don’t agree terms.

“Fredy feels important under Walter Mazzarri. The upcoming World Cup also plays a role. We will also meet with the Inter owner to see what the project looks like here.”

One important aspect of the deal is that Guarin would be able to play in the Champions League this season as Inter Milan have not competed in that competition this season.

Chelsea fans may be surprised by manager Jose Mourinho making a move for a midfielder when his team is having such difficulties in scoring goals and keeping clean sheets recently but there are also reports of Mourinho making it a double move and brining in Guarin’s Inter team mate Andrea Ranocchia.
