Suarez did NOT dive says ex ref Gallagher

Ex Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has categorically stated that Liverpool striker Luis Suarez did not dive to win a penalty in his team’s 2-2 draw against Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

Gallagher is certain that referee John Moss made the correct decision in awarding the penalty after the clash.

Speaking on Sky Sports News about the incident, Gallagher said “I think if the goalkeeper goes to the ground like he did he has to get the ball but he does not – and instead collides with Suarez it is a penalty,”

“It is not a dive, 100% not a dive.

“But he has gone to the ground to win the ball; there is no doubt about that.”

Suarez, who has won seven penalties already this season had been criticised by some pundits and former players after the incident. However, Gallagher is certain that it was not a dive.

Hopefully his comments will put to bed all the dispute over whether or not Suarez dived to win the penalty and people can start to talk about what was an excellent football match for the neutral to enjoy.
