Mourinho set to show Terry the door

Chelsea skipper John Terry is set to leave the Blues at the end of the season when his contract runs out.

Terry, 33 had hoped for a 3 year deal, which would have enabled him to see out his playing days at Chelsea, however, it appears to be a case of thanks for everything but you can leave as Chelsea are only willing to offer a 2 year deal on greatly reduced terms.

With manager Jose Mourinho ushering a new ear of younger players into the Chelsea squad then the likes of Terry, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard all could find their positions at the club under threat.

Mourinho has already brought in Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah this transfer window and has been linked with a move for French defender Kurt Zouma also.

It’s quite a blow to Terry as his form this season has been excellent and there has even been talk of a recall to the England set up for the World Cup in Brazil this Summer.

However, with no compromise appearing to be on the horizon, Terry could well end up without a club come the start of the tournament in Brazil.

Should you offer a 33 year old a 3 year deal? No, it makes no business sense. This is Chelsea though so never say never. If Mourinho wants Terry to stay then I’m sure an agreement will be reached. Otherwise, it’s time for Terry to seek pastures new.
