Moyes eyes the Octopus

Manchester United manager David Moyes has his eye on more reinforcements during this January transfer window.

Moyes is planning a move for Porto’s Brazilian born defensive midfielder Fernando. Known as the ‘Octopus’ due to his leggy style, Fernando is seen as the ideal signing.

He will not need a work permit due to his Portuguese citizenship and he, unlike Moyes’ preferred choices is willing to move during this transfer window.

Another plus point for the move would be to keep him out of the clutches of rivals Liverpool. The Anfield club are long time admirers of Fernando and were primed to make a move for him themselves.

If a deal can be done for £7million pounds, expect Moyes to make another move in the transfer market.

Manchester United are desperate for a midfield enforcer. They have never replaced Roy Keane in that role. If they want to claw back the difference in points between themselves, Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham then they need all the help they can get. More midfield options to go behind a front line of Juan Mata, Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie would be just the boost the club need.
