Wenger has gone off Suarez

Ahead of their clash on Saturday Lunchtime, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has stated that he will not be making a new move for Luis Suarez.

Arsene Wenger has said that he has no regrets over his failed move to bring Liverpool’s Luis Suarez to the Emirates over the summer. The drawn out transfer saga was the main talking point of the Summer.

With Arsenal’s initial bid of £40million pounds being rejected, the Gunners, mistakenly thought they could activate a release clause in Suarez’s contract if they bid over the £40million pound mark, they then bid £40million and one pound.

That bid was laughed at by Liverpool Owner John W Henry with his now famous ‘what are they smoking over at the Emirates’ tweet.

“You sometimes have regrets when players who played for you score goals or do well somewhere else,” said Wenger.

“But he was never our player, it is a situation that didn’t come off and that is it.”

Wenger will be wary of his former target as Liverpool aim to dent Arsenal’s title challenge and of course further their own aim for a top 4 finish this season.

Asked if Arsenal might revisit the deal again at a future date, Wenger added: “At the moment no, no.”
