Team News

Tottenham look set to welcome back Younes Kaboul and Andros Townsend, although it remains to be seen whether they will be fit enough to start against the Toffees this weekend.

Seamus Coleman and Gerard Deulofeu could return for the game in North London. Bryan Oviedo, Romelu Lukaku and Lacina Traore will miss the game.

Interesting Statistics

Everton have lost only two of their last 13 Premier League encounters with Spurs.

Everton have conceded first in their last three away matches against top-six teams.

12 of Tottenham’s 19 assists this season have been supplied by players signed last summer. [via StatsZone]

Key Players

Emmanuel Adebayor and Kevin Mirallas

While only making nine Premier League appearances so far this season for Tottenham, the Togolese striker has been relatively prolific with his chances so far under Tim Sherwood’s new look Spurs side, scoring 5 in 8 – a chance conversion rate of 42%; scoring five goals from a total of just 12 shots. Adebayor is averaging a goal every 147 minutes and has a shooting accuracy of 75%.

What Tottenham were lacking under former head coach Andre Villas-Boas was a striker who could link up the play. The former Man City and Arsenal man has created two goals, creating a total of 13 chances for his side, an average of a chance created every 56 minutes for Spurs.

The Tottenham number 10 has attempted a total of 22 dribbles this campaign, successfully completing 11, something that Roberto Soldado isn’t accustomed to, or isn’t comfortable with, making just 16 dribbles so far this season, successfully completing eight.

Adebayor vs Mirallas creativity

A lot of the plaudits for Everton’s individuals have headed to Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku so far in the era of Roberto Martinez, but Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas is having a stellar season, looking to create and score goals at every opportunity.

The sheer volume of crosses and dribbles the winger has attempted this campaign is quite staggering. Mirallas is always looking to put his opponent on the back foot, which is shown in the total chances created above – a total of 47 chances, of which five have been assists – an average of a chance created every 37 minutes; one area the Belgian winger could work on is the amount of clear-cut chances created, having played 24 games compared to Adebayor’s 9, Mirallas has created just four, compared to Adebayor’s two.

Like Emmanuel Adebayor, Kevin Mirallas has scored five goals in the Premier League for the Toffees this season; averaging a goal every 344 minutes, scoring five goals from a total of 40 shots, a case of shoot on sight it seems for the Belgian at times this season – a shooting accuracy of 50% and a chance conversion rate of 13%.

Adebayor vs Mirallas shooting stats

While Adebayor’s shooting stats look better than Mirallas’, the Spurs striker has exactly the same percentage of clear-cut chance conversion as Mirallas (50%). With Romelu Lukaku out for Everton and Spurs not being able to rely on Roberto Soldado for the majority of this season, it’s appears that Emmanuel Adebayor or Kevin Mirallas will be each sides game changers.

Winner Betting

It’s difficult to set these two sides apart, with both sides desperately wanting a Champions League season, and with their fellow 4th place contenders facing title challengers Arsenal at Saturday lunchtime, both Spurs and Everton will want the three points, but may have to settle for just a point, which is available at 12/5 at Winner.com.

I believe it could be a high-scoring draw like last season’s 2-2 at White Hart Lane last season, with 2-2 available at 12/1 at Winner.com.

With the stat mentioned above with Everton conceding the first goal in their last three matches against teams in the top six, it could be worth backing Emmanuel Adebayor to score first at 11/2.
