Moyes denies rift

Manchester United manager David Moyes has moved to quash any rumours of a rift between him and his staff.

Speaking ahead of his team’s match against Olympiakos in the UEFA Champions League, Moyes said “A lot of people are trying to divide us in some way or not keep us together,”

“I can only tell people what they’re hearing or what they are saying is rubbish.”

“Over the last few weeks [the media] have tried to say there are problems with this player or that player. But the reports are all rubbish.”

The pressure in increasing on Moyes, particularly after his teams 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool on Sunday. The result leaves them 12 points off a top four finish and qualification to next years Champions League competition.

It had been suggested that midfielder Ryan Giggs – a United player for 24 years – has been critical of Moyes’s tactics, believing them to be too negative for a club of United’s size.

Whatever the truth, these are worrying times for Manchester United fans. The team are under performing, the results are not going there way and they are looking more over their shoulders than at the teams above them.

The saying goes, there is no smoke without fire and a defeat to Olympiakos could see the end of David Moyes as Manchester United manager.
