Torres does have a Chelsea future

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that under fire striker Fernando Torres does have a future at Stamford Bridge.

Torres has only notched 44 goals for the blues since his move from Liverpool in 2011, that includes 9 form 33 games so far this season.

He also found himself left on the bench on Wednesday evening when Mourinho chose winger Andre Schurrle as his teams only forward in their UEFA Champions League tie with PSG.

“Does he have a future? Yes, he has,” said Mourinho.

“He is under contract, he’s a good professional. He works hard for the team, he brings positive things to the team.

“Obviously, we want him to score more goals. Obviously, he wants to score more goals. It’s not just me that wants.

“People that give everything they have you never can blame and you never can complain. When he’s on the pitch he tries to do his best. Obviously we want more.

“He’s the first one that wants more, but he’s the kind of player I respect, he deserves to be respected and there’s nothing more you can say about it.”

Quite how Mourinho can get more from Torres is anyone’s guess. He just has not looked anywhere near the striker that cost them a British record £50 million pounds back in 2011.
