Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham Preview | Team News, Stats and Key Players

Fulham travel to White Hart Lane in a crucial Saturday lunchtime fixture, hoping they can grab three points in their quest for Premier League survival. The Cottagers are just two points off Norwich in 17th place, but Tim Sherwood will hope his Spurs team can deny Fulham the three points they crave, despite Spurs set to miss out on a Champions League qualification spot.

Team News

Spurs are without a host of key players for the London derby, with Erik Lamela, Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen, and Etienne Capoue all long-term injury concerns. Mousa Dembele, Roberto Soldado and Jan Vertonghen also look set to miss out for Spurs. Lewis Holtby is ineligible for the game, while Cauley Woodrow faces a fitness test. Damien Duff and Kostas Mitroglou are also out for the Cottagers.

Key Statistics

  • Spurs have won seven of their last eight meetings against Fulham, with Fulham’s solitary win coming at White Hart Lane last season.
  • Fulham have won three of their last five Premier League matches.
  • Spurs have won four of their last five at home.
  • Only Crewe Alexandra (78) have conceded more goals than Fulham (74) in all four leagues in England this season.
  • Spurs have conceded first in their last six matches.

Key Players

Christian Eriksen and Hugo Rodallega

The former has three goals and three assists in his last five games, while Fulham striker Hugo Rodallega has scored the match winner for the Cottagers in their last two games.

Hugo Rodallega was on the fringes of this Fulham side until Felix Magath was brought in, and the Columbian international has repaid the faith the manager placed in him with two goals to secure six points in their last two games.

With two goals from a total of 10 shots, Rodallega has a 70% shooting accuracy and a 20% chance conversion.

The Colombian striker will miss his partner in crime, Lewis Holtby, on Saturday, who, like Hugo Rodallega, has also been influential in Fulham’s strive for survival with just four games to go.

Since making his £11m move from Amsterdam to N17 last summer, Christian Eriksen has been one of Spurs’ standout performers in a relatively below par season for the Lilywhites.

The Danish international has been involved in 13 of Spurs’ 48 goals in the Premier League this season, scoring seven and creating six goals in 21 appearances.

Eriksen has created a total of 54 chances for Spurs this season, creating seven clear-cut chances. The former Ajax playmaker has successfully dribbled past his opponents 20 times out of a total of 47; while accurately delivering the ball in the box 35 times, giving the Dane a 20% crossing accuracy.

Spurs have lost just two Premier League games when Eriksen has started on the left or in central midfield (the 4-0 defeat to Liverpool and the 1-0 home loss to Arsenal).

If Spurs are to deny Fulham three points and a hope of Premier League survival, Tim Sherwood will need Christian Eriksen to play up to the standard he sets yet again on Saturday.

Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Fulham
