Tim Sherwood has today confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur’s record transfer signing Erik Lamela will not be fit enough for the remainder of the season.
“There’ll be no chance Erik’s fit”
“I read in the paper, or someone told me, that the hierarchy here are asking for him to get more opportunities.
“Chance would be a fine thing, he’s injured.”
Lamela was signed from Italian side AS Roma as a replacement for Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, who was bizarrely mentioned in the Spurs manager’s press conference as he stated that if the north London club were to add on the points Bale won for them to what they had accumulated this season they would be challenging for the Premier League title.
Although this argument is completely irrelevant, Lamela was seen to be the key replacement for the Welshman, but has failed to shine since leaving Italy. In fact, were Lamela available and involved in Tottenham’s run-in, it might come more of a surprise.
