Moyes Will Revive Manchester United says Mata

Spanish midfielder Juan Mata believes that David Moyes will lead Manchester United through their difficult period to bigger and better things next season. United lie in 7th place, and will finish outside the top 3 for the first time since 1991.

Mata joined United from Chelsea in Januaray for £37.1 million, a club record, but has failed to hit the heights of his time at Valencia and Chelsea.

“Even before I came, things were difficult here, so I knew I wasn’t coming to a side that was going to win, win and win.

“But I knew that this club was going to come back and that the future was going to be bright.”

Mata has been deployed on the right hand side of Moyes’ midfield, but struggled to find form out of position, scoring his first goal in the 4-1 victory over Aston Villa coming at the tail end of March.

“When I joined, in all my conversations with the board and the manager about next season, they were confident about getting the right players.

“They know, and I know, we’re in a transitional moment, but in the summer they’re going to try to sign a few players and I have the faith they are going to bring top players in,” said the 25 year old.

Although United still have a number of talented players, their squad appears to be rusting from the inside out. Whether United stick with “The Chosen One” or seek to replace the Scotsman remains to be seen, but the task ahead in rebuilding an entire squad will be an enormous challenge.
