Leicester Vs Man City Preview | Team News, Key Men & Stats

On Saturday December 13th, Manchester City travel to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City.  These two sides are on the opposite ends of the form table.  Leicester City have accumulated only one point in their last six matches while Manchester City have picked up 16 points in their last six matches.  Leicester have been on the bottom of the league table for three consecutive match days and have not registered a win since September 21st.  Manchester City on the other hand have not lost in the league since late October.  With Manchester City coming off a high after qualifying for the last sixteen of the Champions League, the reigning English Champions will be huge favourites to get all three points from this one.

Team News

Both teams have done well to avoid large numbers of injuries so far this season, but they both have some injuries to key players.  Leicester City’s match day squad could be very different depending on how some late fitness tests go.  The Foxes will be without first choice goalkeeper Kasper Schmeical as he will be missing for the next month with a broken metatarsal.  Richie De Laet, Mathew Upson, and Dean Hammond will all have late fitness tests to determine whether they can play.  Leicester’s leading goal scorer, Leonardo Ulloa, should be fit for the match despite suffering a knock over the weekend.  Manchester City will be hoping that captain Vincent Kompany will pass his fitness test for this match.  Manuel Pellegrini will be missing star striker Sergio Aguero as well as centerback Mastia Nastasic through long term injuries.

Interesting Statistics

This is the first time these two teams have in the league in over 10 years. Manchester City are undefeated in their last six meetings with Leicester.  Overall, Manchester City has the edge in the all time record winning 51 meetings with Leicester, losing 27 and drawing 28.  Manchester City have scored more goals away from home than any other team this season, while only two teams have conceded more goals at home than Leicester.  Manchester City have accumulated more points away from home than any other team in the Premier League this season.

Key Men

Leicester: Leonardo Ulloa

Leicester have had trouble scoring goals this season, they went from October fourth to November 29th without scoring a goal in the league, so there key player is their key goalscorer, Leonardo Ulloa.  The Argentinian striker ended his nine match goalless streak at the weekend with his goal vs Aston Villa.  Despite going nine games without a goal, the former Brighton man is still the clubs leading scorer and is the only player that has scored more than two league goals.  He has also shown that he can perform against the big clubs scoring four goals in the teams matches vs Manchester United, Arsenal, and Everton.  Leicester are yet to win a game where Ulloa has not scored this season.

Manchester City: Samir Nasri

When Manchester City needed someone to step up in their Champions League match on Wednesday Samir Nasri was the man of the moment scoring a fantastic goal to send them through to the round of 16.  Manuel Pellegrini will hope his French play maker can step up again agianst Leicester City.    The former Arsenal man has had an up and down time at Manchester City but has had a good season so far creating a chance every 24 minutes and completing 91% of his take ons.  With a goal and two assists in his last three matches, Nasri could really be rounding into his top form.  When he is on top form this Frenchman can be devastating, especially to teams that don’t have the same quality of player like Leicester.

Betting Section

With Sergio Aguero out the other Manchester City strikers must step up in his absence.  Back Edin Dzeko to do just that and score a goal at 2.14 with Tailor Bet: http://goo.gl/xN8Mpo.

Prediction

While anything can happen in football, it is difficult to see Leicester getting anything from this match.  Manchester City look to be rounding into their top form, while Leicester have not won a match in months.  Everyone loves a surprise result, but I can only see an easy victory for Manchester City.

Prediction: 3-1 Manchester City
