Having wrapped up their first trophy of the season last weekend with their Capital One Cup success against Tottenham, Chelsea will be keen to move a step closer to the Premier League title when they play host to Southampton on Sunday.

Five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table with a game in hand, Jose Mourinho’s side will be in no mood to surrender that advantage against the seventh-placed Saints.

They have already allowed City to draw level with them once this season, but with midfield hard man Nemanja Matic set to return to Premier League action on Sunday after a three-match ban for retaliation, a repeat scenario looks unlikely.

This fixture has a record for producing plenty of fouls, with Chelsea frequently leading the way, and Matic’s probable return is likely to ensure the referee will be kept busy.

The clubs’ last two encounters at Stamford Bridge have seen Mourinho’s side commit 11 or more fouls, with the referee pulling up the London outfit 11 times in the 2-2 draw in January 2013 and 15 times in their 3-1 win in December of that year.

More recently, their first clash this season was a real feisty affair, with 37 fouls all told in the 1-1 draw at St Mary’s, including 14 by Chelsea, and a red card for Southamptron’s Morgan Schneiderlin.

Furthermore, fatigue could be an issue for the Blues, due to their Champions League encounters with Paris Saint-Germain, and their tackles might not be as cleanly executed as normal.

Enhanced price therefore maximum stake of £25 per user.
