Arsenal Vs Liverpool Key Players | Oxlade-Chamberlain Vs Sterling

The Premier League is back after the international break and with a bang! After a loss to the arch enemy Liverpool are looking to bounce back, however they now face an in-form Arsenal. Despite going out of the Champions League the Gunners are showing some excellent form in the Premier League, moving within one point of second place. Liverpool face a daunting task to pick up any points from the Emirates but they must go for it despite a growing injury list and suspensions hanging over their head. According to PhysioRoom.com Arsenal don’t seem to have any injuries affecting them for this blockbuster tie so they’ll have all of their “arsenal” to call on.

Key Men Ox Sterling

Speaking of the players there are two that are home grown and pretty special: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Raheem Sterling. Let’s take a look at how well both of these players are doing this season by comparing their statistics courtesy of Squakwa’s excellent comparison matrix.

Ox Vs Sterling

When it comes to attacking statistics and productivity from the attacking positions it’s Raheem Sterling that dominates with a clean sweep in chances created, assists, goals scored, total shots and shot accuracy. Sterling has been very impressive this season scoring seven and assisting his teammates eight times. The Ox has managed three goals and three assists but there are reasons for the difference and we’ll go into these. The Gunner is far superior in the combative role and he dominates when it comes to take ons, duels, interceptions and tackles won.

As mentioned earlier there are reasons for the major differences when comparing their stats. If you look at the positions either player has played for their respective side you can see that Sterling’s positions have been far more attacking than those of Oxlade Chamberlain.

As you can see from the graphics above Raheem Sterling is playing a much more attacking role that the Ox is. These explain the differences in the statistics for both players. There’s no doubt that both of these young English players are the future of the national team. They both have massive futures ahead of them and whilst the Gunner looks settled in London it seems there maybe a more rocky ride for Raheem ahead at Liverpool. Both players are extremely versatile with The Ox playing five different positions whilst Raheem Sterling has played a remarkable eight different positions for his side. Raheem has been in-effective of late as he’s been played in a right wing-back role which limits his ability.

With Liverpool picking up injuries to Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana, it looks as if Sterling will get moved back into the attacking positions in the side where he is far superior than when he’s played on the flank.

With the major fixture coming up this weekend both of these players will be looking to make their mark at the Emirates! Both are extremely versatile and both are vital to their teams this season! Who will have the major impact this weekend? We’ll have to wait and find out!
