Liverpool Make Top 4 – In some way! Infographic

I would hazard a wild guess that all Liverpool fans would take this table over the actual Premier League table any day of the week. A comfortable fourth place finish easing them back into the Champions League that they briefly flirted with last year. However, this table isn’t a reflection of the football played but how well supported the club is on Twitter.

With 4.36 million followers, the Reds have fantastic support on the social media site bettered only by Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. A disappointing sixth place finish in the Premier League does not quite do justice to the strong fan base the Reds boast around the world. A well connected global community, courtesy of mobile phones, helps followers connect with Liverpool Football Club and its supporters like never before.

It may be a little surprising for some to see Arsenal top the Premier League Twitter Table, pipping Chelsea by just under two hundred thousand followers. Despite winning the FA Cup last year, the Gunners had been trophy less for the nine previous years making them an unexpected table topper. The most successful club in recent times, Manchester United, find themselves third behind the Blues by half a million followers. Twice champions of the last three years, Manchester City, find themselves languishing in fifth place by a country mile.

Although being top in the popularity stakes is obviously beneficial for clubs with the revenue it may bring them, this table quite clearly shows that it does not reflect the clubs footballing side. The current mobile phone era that we find ourselves in allows fans to keep up to date, by the second, with all the club news at an unprecedented level with Twitter being the most convenient outlet for it.

You can check out the table for yourselves below!

To compliment the table above we also have an infographic about the most mentioned players on Twitter. There will be some surprises too! Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez will most likely be mentioned for their brilliance whilst Falcao and Balotelli would have taken their fair share of criticism!
