Can Chelsea finish in the top four this season?

In recent years, Chelsea have been one of the most consistent sides in England’s Premier League. The Blues have finished outside of the top four just once in the last 13 seasons and Hiddink’s side will still fancy their chances of climbing up the table throughout the remainder of the campaign. While they are languishing in 14th place, Chelsea are currently 6/1 with Betway to finish in the top four this season and if anyone is capable of leading the Blues to glory, it’s Hiddink.

Chelsea Finish in Top Four

Chelsea are the defending champions and many expected Mourinho’s men to retain their title this season. Unfortunately for the Blues, they’re more than an outside bet now – with Betway offering 50/1 on Chelsea to secure a second consecutive title. However, they are capable of defying the odds and finish in the top four this season if they perform at their very best in the second half of the season.

If their star performers step up, the Blues could produce ‘title-winning’ form in the coming months. At the present moment, Chelsea are low on confidence but their recent Champions League result against Porto may give a boost around the dressing room. The likes of Eden Hazard, who hasn’t scored in his last 2,218 minutes of football, Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa simply haven’t been good enough this season but are all capable of turning their form around and playing a key role for the Blues.

Unfortunately for the Blues, there is plenty of competition towards the top of the Premier League this season and six or seven clubs are all in with a shout of finishing in the top four. Leicester City are currently leading the way whilst seasoned campaigners Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United are all there or thereabouts. Chelsea will find it tough to climb up the division but if they can defeat their main rivals, they will be in with a chance of finishing in the Champions League places.

So, can Chelsea finish in the top four? Of course they can. It will be difficult but the Blues have enough talent to challenge. With Hiddink at the helm, looking at his previous record, Chelsea are capable of anything. For now, they may choose to focus on the Champions League but a top four spot is equally as important, especially if the Blues fail to win Europe’s elite club competition.
