The Most Creative Players This Season

It may be the goalscorers that grab the headlines and get the plaudits in the Premier League, but behind every goalscorer there is a playmaker.

You all know that type of player, the one that creates a chance from nowhere and wins your team the game. The player that plays that killer pass or pin point cross, the type owners pay millions of pounds to bring to their clubs.

We are half way through the 2015/2016 Premier League season now and there are a few players that have shown themselves to be invaluable, in terms of chance creation.

Mesut Ozil has been in incredible form for Arsenal this season, topping the charts for both chances created (79) and assists (16).

The German has created at least 28 more chances than any other Premier League player and is averaging a chance created every 19.6 minutes.

Dimitri Payet has proven to be a shrewd signing by West Ham, with the Frenchmen creating 46 chances in his 12 Premier League games.

He has been severely missed since his injury against Everton, with the Hammers struggling to create chances and score goals in his absence.

Payet is averaging a chance created every 22.6 minutes.

Kevin De Bruyne has hit the ground running at Man City, with the Belgian midfielder creating the second most chances in the Premier League this season (51).

KDB has also scored 5 goals and got 8 assists in his 15 Premier League appearances and is creating a chance every 23.8 minutes.

Mesut Ozil again finds himself at the top of the list, but for this time chances created in open play.

Ozil has created more chances from open play than any other player this season (58) and is creating a chance every 26.7 minutes, which is also more often than anyone else.

Eden Hazard, who is having a poor season by his high standards has created the second most chances from open play this season. He is averaging a chance from open play every 30.5 minutes.

Southampton’s Dusan Tadic (40) and West Ham’s Dimitri Payet (33) have created the third and fourth most chances from open play this season, with both players creating a chance from open play every 31 minutes.

Assists

EPLIndex 3

Mesut Ozil has 16 assists in his 18 Premier League games this season and is averaging an assist every 97 minutes.

David Silva is averaging an assist every 115 minutes, while Gerard Deulofeu is averaging an assist every 135 minutes. Both players have 7 assists this season.

Kevin De Bruyne (152 minutes) and Wes Hoolahan (174 minutes) are the only other players to average an assist under 200 minutes (Minimum 3 assists).

Riyad Mahrez (210 minutes), Christian Eriksen (214 minutes), Ross Barkley (237 minutes), Sadio Mane (244 minutes) and Marc Albrighton (250 minutes) make up the list of the most frequent assisters this season.

Who will finish as most creative player? I think betting on Euro players would be the way to go!
