3 transfer targets for Arsenal this month

After Arsene Wenger signed a new two-year extension on his expiring contract less than two weeks ago and then vowed to challenge for the 2017-18 Premier League title, Arsenal are expected to be busy in this summer’s transfer window.

The Gunners have already landed 2016-17 Bundesliga Team of the Season left-back Sead Kolasinac from Schalke 04 as Wenger looks to upgrade his squad.

Here are three more players Arsenal have been linked to already this month:

Arda Turan

The Turkish international has been linked with a move to the Emirates before and the rumours are about to intensify as the Express are claiming that Barcelona have reduced their asking price to £19 million. Arda Turan only moved to Camp Nou two years ago for a fee of £34 million but his time in Catalunya has been a disappointing one. With new manager Ernesto Valverde expected to overhaul a number of players, the 30-year-old is likely to be shown the door this summer, with sports betting in Turkey now heavily in favour of a move away from Barcelona for the Turkish star.

Turan is naturally a left winger who can also play on the right and is comfortable as a central midfielder, which would give Wenger a few options. Though it does add to speculation that Alexis Sanchez will be on his way out this summer. The Chilean who predominantly plays on the left wing for Arsenal has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester City in recent days.

James Rodriguez

The Express are also reporting that Arsenal have made a substantial bid in an effort to bring James Rodriguez to the Premier League. Should the 2017 Champions League winners approve the bid, the Gunners can expect competition from Manchester United, who have been strongly linked with a move for the Colombian over the past year.

The 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner has not been a regular in Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid side during his 18 months in charge, so if the right bid comes along there’s nothing to suggest they wouldn’t accept it. The Madrid boss already has the likes of Isco, Marcos Asensio and Mateo Kovacic often sitting on his bench to pick from.

Alexandre Lacazette

Many expect the Lyon striker to leave this summer and having been linked to a whole host of Premier League clubs over the past 12 months don’t be surprised if a deal happens. Alexandre Lacazette has been scoring frequently in France and has the ability to make it in the Premier League.

According to reports, Wenger has met with Lacazette ahead of a £50 million bid from the Gunners. Don’t think this kind of fee would be a off-putting now that the manager has promised a title challenge. With Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck as his current options, a new striker should certainly be on the cards this summer.
