Arsenal v Tottenham Preview | Team News, Key Players & Prediction

Arsenal and Tottenham meet on Sunday and it looks like they’ll be engaged in another intense top four race this season. For Arsenal, that’s not a bad outcome. After finishing sixth last season, the goal is to get back into the Champions League. Their performances haven’t been great this season, but their results have carried them into this top four race. At this point in the season, Arsenal have a chance at the Champions League and a win over arch-rival Tottenham could be pivotal to then reaching that goal of Champions League football.

For Tottenham, a Champions League race is a bit disappointing, but not necessarily surprising, considering their lack of moves this summer. They did not sign anyone this summer, as their stadium debuts start to take hold, and it has shown in their performances more than their results. Their results have been pretty good, but their performances have been quite shaky, outside of their battering of Chelsea last weekend. If their performances don’t improve, a bad result against Arsenal could really come back to bite them.

Team News

Arsenal will be without Danny Welbeck, Nacho Monreal and Konstantinos Mavropanos through injuries, according to Physioroom.com.

Tottenham will be without Victor Wanyama, Kieran Trippier, Moussa Dembele, Davidson Sanchez and Victor Janssen through injuries, while Erik Lamela is a doubt, according to Physioroom.com.

Key Players

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang is tied with Sergio Aguero for the most Premier League goals this season, but it hasn’t felt like he’s had a great year so far. He’s not the starting striker on his own team and he’s had some poor performances. Part of that is just the way he plays, a low touch poacher-like forward, but a big performance against Tottenham could quiet any doubters he has at Arsenal.

Tottenham: Harry Kane

Kane struggled at the beginning of the season, but he has come on lately and looked like the player we saw in the last couple of years. He has always played great against Arsenal and ruining their hopes for a successful season would grow his legend even further.

Prediction

Arsenal have struggled to beat Tottenham in recent years, but they tend to play them pretty well at the Emirates. They came away from last year 2-0 victors and it is hard to see them losing, but a draw is certainly possible.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw

  1. Spurs have won 7 matches in a row.The law of averages will see they cant be winning all the time.Under Wenger will be as good as lose to them.
No need to elaborate.Emery is a different guy and he would set the defence in a better position
    Hopefully the gunners can win1-0
