Arsenal vs Bournemouth Preview | Team News, Stats & Key Men

This is a big week for Arsenal. After beating Southampton to slide back into the top four, the Gunners now host Bournemouth on Wednesday and travel to Wembley for the North London derby on Saturday. If they’re able to get six points from those fixtures, they’ll be in a great position to finish in the top four. If not, they could be in big trouble.

Bournemouth are decidedly mid-table. They sit six points off the seventh and the Europa League and six points off 15th and a relegation fight. One or two more wins should guarantee them safety, but the Cherries was more than just safety. They’ll be looking to get into the Europa League and a win against Arsenal would be a big step.

Team News

Arsenal will be without Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck with long term injuries. They may also be without Alex Iwobi, Ainsley-Maitland Niles and Stephan Lichsteiner, who are all doubts, according to Physioroom.com.

Bournemouth will be without Lewis Cook and Simon Francis, both with long term ACL injuries. Callum Wilson and David Brooks are also expected to miss out, while Steve Cook and Junior Stanislas are doubts, according to Physioroom.com.

Key Players

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Alexandre Lacazette may have started and scored at the weekend, but Aubameyang is still the main man at Arsenal. He is their leading goalscorer and is still in the golden boot race. He is the type of goalscorer that separates European clubs from mid-table ones and will hope to prove that this weekend.

Bournemouth: Ryan Fraser

Arsenal have a significant weakness at right back and Fraser is the perfect type of player to take advantage of it. He is tied for second in assists in the Premier League and has chipped in with five goals as well. He will have a field day against whomever Arsenal play at right back and look to break the Arsenal defence.

Prediction

Arsenal have been very good at home, with their only loss coming against Manchester City. Bournemouth have a path to winning by exploiting Arsenal’s weak defence, but it’s more likely that the Gunners come out on top.

Prediction: 3-2 Arsenal
