Arsenal vs West Ham United Match Preview | Team News, Stats & Key Men

Arsenal’s season is circling the drain. They advanced in the FA Cup, but their Europa League exit and poor league campaign have ruined their season. Arsenal sit 10th, five points out of the potentially important 5th place. The season isn’t over, but they need to be perfect to make this season anything short of a disaster.

West Ham’s season has been their own kind of disaster and could have huge consequences. The Hammers are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. They fired Manuel Pellegrini and hired David Moyes for his second stint at West Ham, but things haven’t turned around. Relegation would be a catastrophe for the club. They need to improve quickly to avert that.

Team News

  • Calum Chambers, Lucas Torreira and Sead Kolasinac are all ruled out, while Kieran Tierney and Cedric Soares are fitness doubts, according to PremierInjuries.com.
  • West Ham have their own host of injury issues to deal with. Ryan Fredricks, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Soucek are all out, while Andriy Yarmolenko is a doubt, according to PremierInjuries.com.

Key Players

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Arsenal may be a pretty average team this season, but Aubameyang is anything but an average player. The 30-year-old striker is tied for the league lead in goals scored with 17, despite missing a few games through suspension in January. He’s arguably the best goalscorer in the league and can win Arsenal a game on his own. The Gunners will need him to be in fine firm on Saturday and through the rest of the season.

West Ham United: Robert Snodgrass

Snodgrass has been a staple of the team under Moyes. He had a fantastic match against Brighton with two goals and an assist and chipped in with an assist in the Hammers match against Liverpool. He hasn’t been particularly consistent under Moyes, not taking a shot in any of the last three matches, but he has had his moments. Another moment or two would go a long way to keeping West Ham in the Premier League.

Prediction

Both teams are a mess, which makes it tough to predict any outcome with real certainty. That said, Arsenal are the home team and the team higher in the table, so they seem like the more likely winners.

Prediction: 3-1 Arsenal
