Arsenal vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Preview | Team News, Stats & Key Men

Arsenal is on a horrible run of form in the Premier League. They have one win in their last five matches, which has dropped them to 12th in the table. They still remain in touch with the top four, but they won’t be if they don’t turn things around soon. The Gunners cannot afford to keep haemorrhaging points and need a win.

Wolves sit a point ahead of Arsenal, leaving them four points off the top four. They’ve turned things around since their disastrous 4-0 loss to West Ham United. They’ve conceded only three goals in the last six matches, winning three of those matches. They’ll hope to continue that upswing on their trip to London.

Team News

The Gunners have a load of injury issues to manage. Pablo Mari, Bukayo Saka, Thomas Partey, Gabriel Martinelli and Calum Chambers all have injuries keeping them out, according to PremierInjuries.com. Sead Kolasinac and Mohamed Elneny will likely miss out with COVID-19. On top of that, Willian and David Luiz are also injury doubts.

Wolves have significantly fewer absences than their opponent. Jonny Castro will miss out through injury, while Conor Coady and Romain Saiss are doubts due to COVID-19 protocol.

Key Players

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Aubameyang’s poor start to the season is a worrying sign for Arsenal. Their only chance at being a successful team involved Aubameyang being one of the league’s top strikers. He hasn’t been close to that this season, scoring only one non-penalty goal and taking a mere 1.4 shots per 90 minutes. The Gunners are desperate for him to put in a top tier performance.

Wolves: Raul Jimenez

Jimenez remains the main man at Molineux, scoring 44% of the team’s Premier League goals this season. That said, the attack has struggled. Only three teams have fewer goals than Wolves this season. While defence has always been their strong point, the attack still needs to improve. Jimenez will need to a vital part of that.

Prediction

Both teams have struggled to start the season. That said, the injury issues for Arsenal put them at a significant disadvantage.

Prediction: 1-0 Wolves
