Which Team Is In The Most Need Of Reinforcements In January?

The January transfer window is open for business, which means that teams will be racing against the clock to get deals done. There is a greater need for some more than others, as the teams in the mix for relegation will need to bring in new signings.

Betway markets currently see Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion as the outright favourites for the drop. The sportsbook updates its prices regularly, which means that the Betway soccer betting markets could be subject to change depending on whether the teams located at the foot of the table are able to strengthen.

Fulham

With West Bromwich Albion and Sheffield United already cut adrift, the battle to avoid the final relegation spot could be between Fulham, Brighton, Burnley and Newcastle. Fulham are the side that are most likely to do business in the winter window, as they will be in the market for a striker.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has struggled with injuries throughout the season, and there are reports that Scott Parker’s side could look to a player like Dwight Gayle to fill in. Parker’s side have been improving as the season has progressed, but defensively there are still issues. Another proven central defender could also be on their wish list in the winter market.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

It has been a strange season to this point for Wolverhampton Wanderers, as they are still considered to be one of the most entertaining sides in the league, but they are slipping further back in the league standings. Wolves are eleven points clear of the drop zone, and relegation doesn’t seem to be on the agenda, but their aim of a European finish may already be out of sight.

They will desperately look to bring in a striker during the winter window, as they look to fill the void left by Raul Jimenez, who could be out until the end of the season. One player that could be on their radar is Diego Costa, who was recently released by Atletico Madrid. Costa’s Premier League experience could be crucial for a Wolves side that have looked short of ideas in the final third.

West Ham United

It has been a fine first half of the season for West Ham United, and they could potentially be knocking on the door of the Europa League places if they are able to strengthen their squad during the January window. David Moyes’ side have lost just five games this season, which is the same number as Chelsea and three fewer than Arsenal. Defensively it doesn’t look like there is any area to address, but going forward is a different question.

The Hammers have struggled to score goals this season, and have hit the back of the net on just 24 occasions in their 17 league games. That is the fewest goals scored by a side in the top half of the league table. There is an empty spot for a new striker in the squad now following the departure of record-signing Sebastien Haller, but finding the right player is the biggest issue for the Hammers if they are to kick on in the second half of the campaign.
