Premier League Table Prediction – Post Summer Window

This Premier League season could see the tightest contest in years, with potentially more clubs able to mount a challenge than ever before. The window certainly played a key role, and the last few weeks will have helped determine the sides most capable of a title challenge.

I had Manchester City as most likely winners a few weeks ago, as I saw Harry Kane almost certainly signing. With Daniel Levy showing extreme resistance to the monies being waved around, I feel it now leaves City short. As with the opening game against Spurs, they simply haven’t got the elite goal scorer needed against certain sides, and based upon this. I truly think they will struggle in certain games that aren’t all one way traffic.

Liverpool were a tight second, and I still believe their brilliant defence returning will pull them close. They should have signed more players, and my logical head has them pulling up just short, again, as a result. This idea is ever changing in my mind, because Virgil Van Dijk is back, and I believe anything is possible with that man available. But as it stands I think their is one clear winner given others lack of real improvement.

Chelsea will pose a huge threat with a whole season under Thomas Tuchel. Tuchel (along with Pep Guardiola & Jurgen Klopp), are either elite or world class in their roles, and each have a squad to match. Chelsea should win this years title, especially with the brilliant Lukaku returning. Saúl Ñíguez being added on loan adds brilliant depth, and if a consistent attacking formula can be found, they should become English champions once more.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær has signed off on a transfer for a Portuguese heavyweight, that I believe will see Bruno Fernandes’ numbers drop off this season. Bruno dragged United to second last season, but I don’t see how Ronaldo benefits this United team in the biggest of games. They are strong, and under strong leadership they could win the league, but they do not have this and Ronaldo could well be his downfall.

The middle section of the league will no doubt see lots of movement, with some good quality amongst this groups starting line ups. A lack of quality in depth will probably see a gap from the top six emerge early, with UEFA places hotly contested at the seasons end.

The three sides coming up will be fighting for their lives. The need to add Premier League calibre players, will likely see each team struggling to compete over a long campaign. Teams like Crystal Palace and those hovering above the relegation zones will be scrambling to survive, and the bottom three will be an interesting watch throughout the year.

This table represents an opinion, and with a busy few weeks of window remaining, most teams will be hurriedly recruiting till the last moment. With players such as Kane still in limbo, this pandemic affected window will most definitely see some interesting deals emerge, the the last day could be a great watch.

On a final note, West Ham look great, and I hope they can exceed my improved expectations, and challenge for top six.
