Footballers’ cars – do they go for speed or luxury?

They’re among the most highly-paid sportspeople on the planet, but what do footballers do with their spare cash? They could get plenty with their huge wages – a portfolio of properties, holidays abroad every summer break, and fancy new hairdos.

Some of the big names in football will probably choose to buy a few luxury cars, especially the top ones. As one of the most highly-paid players of all, it’s no surprise to see that Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo owns one of the most expensive cars today – the £1.5m Bugatti Veyron!

Ronaldo owns a few other vehicles too, but when he’s feeling really flash (possibly on his way to training), he’ll probably bring the Veyron. Former Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney’s also one for owning a flash car, spending roughly a week’s wages on the striking Lamborghini Gallardo, possibly impressed by its 201mph top speed.

As an up-and-coming superstar in his own right, Tottenham’s Gareth Bale has the car to match his talent, but at £120,000, the Audi R8 isn’t quite so flashy, but it’s pretty luxurious. Staying with luxurious cars, bad boy Mario Balotelli has chosen the Bentley Continental GT, a car you would expect a rich eccentric like him to drive! Most of the players on the list, however, go for speed.
