Manchester City to extend perfect home record against Spurs?

Manchester City and Tottenham will be desperate to get back on track when they meet at Etihad Stadium after the international break.

Both sides have had two weeks to stew on damaging defeats. City lost for the fourth time on the road at Sunderland, while Spurs were undone by Tim Krul-inspired Newcastle at White Hart Lane.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be pleased to get back in front of their home fans. They have won all five league games at the Etihad, scoring 20 goals in the process.

City are still in the Premier League title race despite their dreadful away record. The top flight has been ultra-competitive so far, with all of the top sides dropping points they were expected to claim.

The 2011-12 champions will be confident of bouncing back against Spurs. They know not only how to beat teams at home, but take them apart.

City had a rare off day in front of goal at the Stadium of Light; it is difficult to see that happening again, even though Spurs have an impressive defensive record.

Tottenham’s problem has been in front of goal. They have scored only nine times in 11 games, fewer than Stoke and Fulham, who sit 17th and 18th respectively.

It is a surprise given their attacking talent. A side containing the likes of Roberto Soldado, Christian Eriksen and Andros Townsend should be finding the net with greater regularity.

Spurs have undoubtedly missed Gareth Bale in recent matches. The Welshman would have been perfect for the clash in Manchester on November 24th. He is the last player the fragile City backline would want to see running at them.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, he will not be there, while Vincent Kompany might be. City have looked lost at the back without their inspirational captain.

City remain 5/2 favourites with BetVictor for the title and that is in no small part down to their home form. When they eventually click away from home, they will be a tough side to stop.

Tottenham certainly have the ability to leave the Etihad with something but City’s confidence on home soil is such that it is difficult to look past them at 13/20.
