Manchester City V Crystal Palace Preview | Team News and Key Men Stats

Manchester City welcome Crystal Palace to The Etihad on Saturday hoping to continue their amazing unbeaten home record this season. After a tight win over Liverpool in arguably their toughest test at home so far, they will hope for another three points and goals aplenty having already netted 53 goals in this campaign. However, Crystal Palace, who are in good form themselves, will want give an account of themselves and will be buoyed by the last minute winner from Dwight Gayle to give them all three points against Aston Villa on Boxing Day.

Having won three out of the last five games in the league, they have had been through a resurgence under new manager Tony Pulis and having done brilliantly to not only move up from the foot of the table but also now sit outside the relegation zone in 17th and will want to continue the momentum.

Team News

Manchester City

City are without Aguero, Richards and Jovetic who are all injured whilst Demichilis is sidelined having picked up a knock in training before the game against Liverpool. Apart from that, Pellegrini has the rest of his players fit for the match.

Crystal Palace

After netting the 92nd minute winner against Villa in their last match, Dwight Gayle will have his sights set on a starting berth against the Premier League favourites and hope to have a similar impact. Chamakh returns from suspension which will be a boost for Palace as he has found some form of late. Guedioura, Thomas, Hunt, McCarthy and Murray are all sidelined.

Interesting Facts

• The last the two met at Selhurst park in the premier league was in 2004 where Man City won 2-1

• Man city have an amazing 41 goals more than Crystal Palace this season scoring 53 compared to Palaces 12 goals

• Sergio Aguero has scored a goal more than Palace in the premier league this season

Key Players

Man City: David Silva

The Spanish maestro David Silva has been in great form this season for Man City. He is one of the more creative players of Man City creating a total of 39 chances and managing 5 assists, which is the most in the Man City team. Not very well known for his goals, David Silva has found a few goals finding the net on four different occasions. His passing accuracy is very good as well 637 out of 721 passes he has made being accurate. Crossing is another strong point for him as 44% out 48 crosses he has made being accurate which is very good considering they have a big forward like Negredo in the box who could head in goals given the chance.

Crystal Palace: Cameron Jerome

Cameron Jerome hasn’t been in great form this season but he will have to be at his best if Crystal Palace are to have a chance against Man City. The English striker has only managed a goal this season from 18 shots but has managed to create quite a few chances creating 13 and managing an assist. Jerome has almost been like a good luck charm as he has featured in 4 out of the 5 games they have won this season. Well known for his heading ability, Jerome has only managed 2 headed attempts at goal not scoring on either occasion but that could be because he is not getting enough service into the box and if someone manages to provide him with a few crosses then he could find himself on the score sheet.

Prediction

One of the easier predictions I’ll have to make this season. With City’s incredible home form, it would be ludicrous to consider anything other than a home win, and a big one at that. Hopefully Palace can keep the score line respectable for the fans sake.

Manchester City 3 – 0 Crystal Palace
