Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has said that his team is now the bigger and better team in Manchester.
Speaking ahead of his team’s UEFA Champions League tie with Barcelona on Tuesday night Pellegrini believes that his team are now the dominant team in the city, he said “If we only consider this season, there is just one club in Manchester and it is ours,”
“But you cannot forget what United have done in the previous years. We are aiming to keep growing by winning many trophies – not just national but international trophies.”
Certainly Manchester City have enjoyed a much better season than their local rivals. They are still in the hunt for both the FA Cup and UEFA Champions League trophies. They play Sunderland in the final of the Capitol One Cup and sit third in the Barclays Premier League table.
United on the other hand have been knocked out of both domestic cups, sit 7th in the Barclays Premier League and face Olympiakos in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.
What United manager David Moyes will have to say about this quotes will be very interesting. He will get his chance to comment when he takes his pre-game press conference next week.
