Arsenal suffer Wilshere injury blow

Arsenal’s hopes for remaining in the title race have suffered a huge blow with the news that midfielder Jack Wilshere will be out injured for up to six weeks.

Wilshere sustained the problem to the navicular bone in Wednesday’s friendly victory over Denmark at Wembley Stadium.

22 year old Wilshere lasted only 59 minutes of England’s 1-0 win in their last home friendly before the World Cup in Brazil. He then went for a scan and further investigation by Arsenal’s medical team revealed a crack to the navicular, an area of his foot which he has not been previously injured.

An Arsenal statement said: “Wilshere will now require a period of approximately six weeks’ rehabilitation, before embarking on regaining his match fitness.”

Dependant on how Wilshere progresses he could potentially miss all of Arsenal’s remaining league fixtures and even the 2014 World Cup Finals.

Arsenal fans will be furious that this injury has happened on International duty once again. It is not the first time one of their players has gotten a series injury whilst away with their countries.

The first game Wilshere will miss will be Saturday’s FA cup tie with Everton at The Emirates.
