Match Day 6 Preview

It doesn’t get any easier for Chelsea. After that Saturday-afternoon defeat by Everton, at a time when some kids were still watching cartoons, comes an encounter with the team that beat it to the Community Shield way back in those hopeful days of August, Arsenal. Arsene Wenger might not always give off the demeanour of a happy man, but he almost certainly will if he manages to beat a Jose Mourinho team for the second time in a row.

If you think the Chelsea crisis will continue, it’s 5/2 with Unibet that Theo Walcott will score anytime; his pace would worry anyone, let alone a Chelsea backline that doesn’t look too comfortable at the moment.

Also on Saturday, it’s a battle near the basement, as Bournemouth, on four points, entertains Sunderland, bottom on two points. Both teams have shown their fair share of defensive fragility this season, with Bournemouth at least being equally-entertaining going forward, and so this looks like a potential high-scorer. If you think there will be over 3.5 goals in this game (Bournemouth already has a 4-3 win over West Ham to its name), that’s 11/4 with William Hill.

On Sunday it’s Tottenham against Crystal Palace, in a battle of barely-concealed frustration with out-and-out joy. Spurs are in a rut, and don’t seem to know the way out, though manager Mauricio Pochettino will hope that new signing Son Heung-Min, an attacker from Bayer Leverkusen, does, after a promising Spurs debut against Sunderland.

Palace has had a flying start to the season, with Alan Pardew having options like never before, in most key positions. With the Eagles performing so well away from home, this could well turn out to be another famous victory for the team in red and blue. BetVictor has a generous 17/5 for Palace to win the game – our advice is get these shortening odds while they last.

Struggling Liverpool faces Norwich City on Sunday as Anfield holds its breath hoping that Brendan Rodgers can instigate a revival in his team’s fortunes. The passing has been stodgy, the service to Christian Benteke almost non-existent, and a defeat at home to the promoted club would possibly mean game-over for Rodgers. Alex Neil’s Canaries have been on good form, and a draw is 16/5 withWilliam Hill.

We’ve got all of these games, plus many more, covered on BookieSmash.
