Second Chance for Cuadrado?

As the summer transfer window has a bunch of rumours flying around, a host of top prospects have been linked with Chelsea. With Conte all set to take up the reigns, who wouldn’t want to be managed by him?

With a switch to a 3-5-2 tactic a real possibility for the Blues, a number of players who can play at wing-back and in central defence are likely to be courted, while there also seems to be a number of attackers linked.

Juan Cuadrado is one player that will fit like a lost puzzle piece into Chelsea’s midfield woes. Loaned from Chelsea to Juventus, Cuadrado is also being offered a chance to play for Barcelona at this point. However, Cuadrado is likely to get a second chance from Conte.
It is thought that Conte wants to use the speed of Cuadrado in a much-changed formation. However, Cuadrado has played only 15 times for Chelsea since joining from Fiorentina in January 2015. The Colombia international spent last season on loan with Juventus and scored four times in 28 appearances in Serie A.

Conte is understood to be a big admirer of the 28-year-old and his preference to play 3-5-2, like he does with Italy, suits Cuadrado, who was effective in that system last season.
Cuadrado is in the USA for the Copa America Centario and is set to make a decision on his future after the tournament. But, the major concern would circulate around how, during his stint at Chelsea, Cuadrado looked extremely out of place.

There is no denying that Cuadrado does not lack for talent. What he needs to improve is his attitude because at Chelsea, he appeared extra nervous and lacked self-motivation. He might sing a different tune with Conte leading the way in a formation more suited for Cuadrado.

Maybe Cuadrado did not get off great at Chelsea, given that he joined at a time when the Blues were riding high and had many big personalities. This time around, they are a changed club, with probably more Conte changes to come. He may therefore find it easier to feel at home and be better able to express himself on the field.
Conte will need time to mould the team and his Euro commitments might put extra pressure on him, so patience will be the key for Chelsea fans and pundits alike to see how the Cuadrado situation fares.
