Arsenal vs Lincoln City | FA Cup Preview | Team News & Key Men

On March 11th, Arsenal will welcome non-league Lincoln City to the Emirates Stadium for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.  Lincoln have already gone further than any other non-league side in the current format of the FA Cup, but they’ll be up against it traveling to the Emirates.

Arsenal are coming off being demolished 5-1 by Bayern Munich for the second time in a month.  This will be the second round in a row that the Gunners have played a non-league side after travelling away to Sutton United in the fifth round.  They did struggle with Sutton, only beating them 2-0, but they should be a different animal on their own pitch.

Lincoln City sit atop of the National League after 34 matches.  This will be Lincoln’s ninth match in this year’s FA Cup, but only their second against a Premier League team and their first against a Premier League team in the top half.  The Imps have only conceded seven goals in their nine FA Cup matches.

Team News

Both Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi missed out against Bayern due to illness, while Mesut Ozil was forced to come off the bench due to illness.  They are all slight doubts for Saturday, according to Physioroom.com.  Both Santi Cazorla and Mohammed Elneny will miss out through longer term injuries.

Key Players

Arsenal: Theo Walcott

With all the stuff going on at Arsenal, the fact that Theo Walcott has had a very good season has gone under the radar.  The Englishman has scored or assisted on 18 goals in only 28 appearances, including a hat trick against Southampton in the fourth round of this competition.  He scored the clinching goal against Sutton United and will hope he can continue to bang in FA Cup goals this season.

Lincoln City: Alan Power

Alan Power is tied for the team league in goals in this competition, with goals in the first round and fourth round, against Altrincham and Brighton respectively.  He also notched an assist in the Imps 3-2 win over Oldham.  The former Irish youth international will likely spend most of his time defending, but if he gets the chance to go forward he could make Arsenal pay.

Prediction

If Arsenal don’t win this game the Emirates Stadium may actually burn down.  The Gunners will be huge favourites over their non-league opponents and it would be an absolute disaster if they don’t do so in convincing fashion.  After their slaughter against Bayern, the Gunners should come out with a point to prove and look to rip Lincoln apparent.  But with Arsenal, you never know.

Prediction: 4-0 Arsenal
