Arsenal vs Sheffield United Match Preview | Team News, Stats & Key Men

Arsenal suffered their first loss of the season at Anfield on Saturday. They’ll look to get back on track with a victory over winless Sheffield United. They currently sit fifth in the table, a good start, but not where they aim to finish.

The Blades have had a difficult start to the season. They have yet to score a goal and yet to secure a point this season. They’ll need to turn things around quickly if they aim to build on their ninth-place finish from last season.

Team News

Arsenal has a litany of injury issues. Shkodran Mustafi, Pablo Mari, Calum Chambers, Gabriel Martinelli and Emile Smith Rowe are all out, while Cedric Soares and Sokratis Papastathopoulos are due to have late fitness tests, according to PremierInjuries.com.

Sheffield United are healthier but still have their own injury issues. Simon Moore’s fitness is being assessed after breaking his finger and both Lys Mousset and Jack O’Connell have already been ruled out, according to PremierInjuries.com.

Key Players

Arsenal: Dani Ceballos

Arsenal’s big weakness this season has been their inability to create a lot of shots. Ceballos isn’t a number 10, but he has flashed creative ability throughout his time at the Emirates. His ability to progress the ball from defence to attack as well as play the final ball is something Arsenal often lack. It is vital to the Gunners cause that the Spaniard play well.

Sheffield United: Oli McBurnie

The Blades have struggled to create chances, but McBurnie has been the best attacker of a bad bunch. He’ll be looking to take advantage of an Arsenal team that has the capacity to give up a lot of shots. It is an opportunity to get the season back on track.

Prediction

Arsenal is the bigger name, but they may not be the better team. Despite their results, they have not played all that well this season. However, neither have Sheffield United. Neither team being particularly convincing makes this tough to predict, but it could easily end in a stalemate.

Prediction: 1-1 Draw
