With the January Transfer window fast approaching Arsenal are looking to spend big once more and this time they have their sights set on Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa.
Costa, 25 was a Summer target for rivals Liverpool but that move didn’t materialise and Costa ended up signing a new deal with Atletico. However, since then he has been in a rich vein of form and has hit 22 goals in 17 La Liga games so far this season.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been looking for striking reinforcements since his failed move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and his only back up to first choice striker Olivier Giroud is Nicolas Bendtner.
Giroud, as you will see below is struggling for goals with only 7 league goals so far this season. His chance conversation rate is down at 17% also and If Arsenal really are title contenders then they need to score more than they are at this moment in time.
If Arsenal are to get Costa in January they will need to spend big, he has a buy-out clause of £32Million pounds and with Atletico going well in La Liga aswell as into the last 16 of the Champions League they will be reluctant to sell their star man.
Arsene Wenger however will see Costa as the final piece of the jigsaw as he tried to end Arsenal’s 8 year wait for a trophy.
