Will Manchester United succeed in landing Thomas Mueller?

Manchester United have been associated with a lot of different strikers over the last few months, and the one that has been most recurrent, for today at least, is Thomas Muller.
The Bayern Munich man has admitted that a move to the Premier League would be “very tempting” because he can earn so much money in England.

If that isn’t the perfect motivation to score bucket loads of goals for United then nothing is.

Manchester United will be boosted by the news that Bayern Munich star Thomas Muller has revealed he could be tempted by the wages in the Premier League.

While not quite playing on the same level as Robert Lewandowski at the moment, Muller has been in stunning form this season having scored 10 goals in 11 matches, and last year racked up 21 goals and 18 assists in all competitions.

Summer signing Anthony Martial has been something of a revelation up front for United since arriving from Monaco.

However, with captain Wayne Rooney looking less and less like the player who once terrorised defences with his speed and power with each passing game, and several attacking players offloaded in the last transfer window, United look far from convincing going forward.

Muller would undoubtedly be a huge boost in that respect, and it seems like he could be open to a move.

Bayern are clearly reluctant to sell the German, but should he decide on a new challenge they may have little choice but to begrudgingly allow him to depart.

Another player United—or indeed any team—could use is Manchester City star David Silva, but it seems former manager Sir Alex Ferguson passed up on the opportunity to sign the Spaniard prior to him joining United’s arch-rivals.

The creative midfielder is arguably the best in his position in the Premier League, if not the world.

According to Squawka, Silva has attempted 18 tackles in five appearances this season, or 3.6 per game. Though he has won just five, it does suggest the attacking midfielder is at least trying to help out his team—similarly to United’s Juan Mata, who has attempted 3.75 tackles per game in his eight appearances.

United have also been linked an array of other players, including Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans and Southampton forward Sadio Mane.

Anderlecht youngster Tielemans has been watched by United scouts, although they could face competition from Chelsea who are also said to be monitoring his progress.
The 18-year-old made his Champions League debut two years ago.

United reportedly made a bid for Mane this summer, but were unsuccessful in luring him to Old Trafford. However, Van Gaal could move for the Senegal international again in January.

Heading the other way through the Old Trafford door could be Ander Herrera, who is January target for Barcelona.

It now remains to be seen which striker Van Gaal will be signing on for the Red Devils, as he doesn’t seem to be lacking any choice.
