The new Premier League season may only be two games old, but a total of eight managers are already odds-on not to survive the season according to exclusive odds provided by Coin Poker.
Sean Dyche became the latest addition to that group after Everton’s poor start saw his chances of being sacked before the end of the season cut from 7/4 to 8/11.
Nuno Espirito Santo remains the manager most likely to lose his job, despite Nottingham Forest claiming four points from their first two games. Erik Ten Haag is second-least likely to see out the season, with Steve Cooper, Eddie Howe and Gary O’Neil tied behind him.
Enzo Maresca’s chances of completing a full season at Chelsea have improved slightly following their 6-2 win over Wolves, while the jury remains out on Julen Lopetegui who is the flip of a coin at 10/11 either way to complete an entire campaign in charge of West Ham.
As well as Dyche, Russell Martin and Oliver Glasner – whose sides have both lost each of their first two games – are the big movers in the sack race, though they remain odds-on at 4/9 to survive the season.
Both have cause to be concerned based on historical precedent, however, given that Southampton and Crystal Palace top the ruthless rankings in terms of sackings per Premier League season, with Forest not far behind.
Southampton also hold the joint-record for most mid-season managerial changes along with Newcastle and Spurs, with 12 each since the start of the Premier League era in 1992/93.
That doesn’t bode well for Eddie Howe – who took over at St James’ Park in November 2021 – given that Newcastle also sit fourth in the ruthless rankings with a sacking every 2.42 Premier League seasons.
Moving in the right direction are Fabian Hurzeler and Arne Slot, who have dropped five and four places respectively after both winning their first two games in charge of their new clubs Brighton and Liverpool.
