Manchester United and Barcelona have reportedly submitted offers for Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, amid intensifying speculation over his future at Villa Park. The 32-year-old, a World Cup winner with Argentina and two-time recipient of FIFA’s Best Goalkeeper award, is understood to be considering his next move after a highly emotional weekend performance.
Martinez was seen in tears following Villa’s 2-0 win over Tottenham on Saturday, sparking suggestions that the fixture could be his final appearance in front of the home crowd.
According to DSports in Argentina, both United and Barca have made formal offers, with the goalkeeper said to have three potential transfer proposals currently on the table.

Champions League ambitions rule out Saudi switch
While Martinez has also been linked with a high-value move to the Saudi Pro League, reports from Ole indicate he would prefer to remain in European football to continue competing in the Champions League. That preference could further solidify the prospects of a switch to either Old Trafford or Camp Nou.
Martinez joined Villa from Arsenal in 2020 and has played a transformative role in their resurgence under Unai Emery. His performances have not only elevated his reputation globally but also helped position Villa within reach of consistent European qualification. Despite this, his future now appears uncertain as the club navigates financial constraints.
Financial reality forces Villa into difficult decision
