In a nervy and hard-fought encounter at San Mamés, Brennan Johnson scored the only goal of the match in the 42nd minute, converting from close range after a low cross by Pape Matar Sarr. Manchester United pressed hard for an equaliser, with Rasmus Højlund and Bruno Fernandes both coming close, but Spurs held firm.
