Chelsea handed major Fofana injury boost ahead of Nottingham Forest clash

Chelsea have received a timely fitness boost with Wesley Fofana returning to full training ahead of their upcoming Premier League fixture. The French defender, who joined from Leicester in August 2022, has endured a frustrating spell at Stamford Bridge, frequently sidelined through injury.

Fofana returns to full training

After missing Chelsea’s last three games due to a concussion sustained in the Carabao Cup victory over Lincoln, Fofana has now completed the mandatory 12-day concussion protocol. His clash with Filip Jorgensen forced him to miss matches during a critical period of the Blues’ campaign, but his recovery appears complete.

“Fofana was spotted in full training on Tuesday,” the club confirmed, suggesting he will be available for selection following the international break. His return arrives at a crucial time as Chelsea look to regain stability at the back after a mixed start to the season.

Defensive options improving

The timing of Fofana’s return could not be better for Chelsea, who have struggled with injuries across their back line. Benoit Badiashile is also expected to feature after limping off in the 2-1 victory over Liverpool, while Trevoh Chalobah will be back after serving a one-match suspension.

Meanwhile, Josh Acheampong, who was substituted last weekend, is understood to be fine after being named in the England U21 squad for their upcoming qualifiers against Moldova and Andorra.

Boost ahead of Forest trip

Chelsea will travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest a week on Saturday, with the defensive injury list finally showing signs of clearing. For Fofana, this represents another chance to restart his career in West London and strengthen the club’s defensive resolve as they aim to push up the Premier League table.
