We all know this summer has needed a response after losing major players, and if the club really are ready to act, then good. No messing about, no endless talk, just go and get one of the main targets.

Ezzalzouli sounds like a proper Newcastle winger. Quick, aggressive, direct, able to beat a man, and willing to stretch the pitch. That is what supporters want to see at St James’ Park. We do not need passengers out wide. We need someone who can scare defenders and create moments. If he can play on either side as well, even better.

The biggest positive in the report is that he is “open to a switch to the Premier League”. That always helps. Newcastle are a huge club, the atmosphere sells itself, and this is still a project with ambition.
