Ruben Amorim, now in charge at Milan, knows Mazraoui well from their spell together at Old Trafford. That connection matters. It is reported that Amorim remains an admirer of the Morocco international, previously describing him as a “technical” player, and that existing relationship gives this situation a degree of credibility as the market enters a decisive phase.
AC Milan weigh up Mazraoui move
Sources close to the agents industry are said to believe Milan’s interest has moved up and down through the summer, which tracks with the wider uncertainty around their defensive planning. Our View
As a Manchester United supporter, I would be wary of this one. Not because Mazraoui is untouchable, but because United have made too many avoidable squad-management mistakes in recent years. Selling useful, experienced players before properly rebuilding depth has become a bad habit, and Mazraoui fits the profile of someone you regret losing in November when injuries hit.
He is not the marquee name fans build around, but every serious side needs players who can do multiple jobs well. If he leaves for a modest fee, United would almost certainly have to spend more than that to replace his flexibility alone, never mind his experience. That is poor business.
There is also the familiar concern about former connections driving transfer talk. Amorim liking him makes sense, and a reunion story is easy to sell, but United should not help another club solve a squad issue unless the return is substantial. If Milan want him, fine, pay properly.
