Manchester United Predicted XI vs Everton as Mason Mount Nears Return

Manchester United head to Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday with growing confidence and a timely boost in midfield, as Mason Mount pushes to be involved against Everton.

Mount has not featured since suffering a knock against Paris Saint-Germain in early August. What was first viewed as a minor issue has lingered longer than expected, yet the mood around his recovery has improved significantly. Michael Carrick offered encouragement when he said: “Mase (Mount) is back around the group, which was great. Trained this week, so that’s a big positive for us.”

Mason Mount Boost for Manchester United

That update raised expectations before the win over Ipswich, although Mount was ultimately left out of the squad. This time, there is a stronger sense that he could return to the fold. If he does, United may finally get a proper look at a midfield pairing with Andrey Santos, a combination that showed promise in pre-season.

Such a move would likely see Youri Tielemans make way, with Carrick keen to add energy and control in central areas. Carlos Baleba remains unavailable, with the summer signing still recovering from an ankle problem and not expected back for another couple of weeks.

Attack Set After Ipswich Win

After putting five past Ipswich, there is little reason for Carrick to tinker too heavily in forward areas. Matheus Cunha looks set to continue as the central striker, supported by Marcus Rashford, Bryan Mbeumo and Bruno Fernandes. Fernandes remains the creative heartbeat of this side, while Mbeumo and Rashford provide direct running and threat either side of Cunha.

Benjamin Sesko made his return from the bench last time out after a shin injury, and his presence gives United another strong option if the game opens up later on. Amad Diallo, however, is still ruled out.

Everton Clash Could Bring Minimal Changes

At the back, continuity is expected. Carrick appears settled on Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw in front of goalkeeper Senne Lammens. With United building rhythm and Everton certain to test them physically, familiarity in defence may be valuable.
