Roberto De Zerbi provides Spurs injury update after Aston Villa defeat

Pedro Porro Injury Blow Deepens Tottenham Crisis After Aston Villa Defeat

Tottenham’s 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa brought another problem they did not need. Pedro Porro went off shortly after the 15-minute mark, and the early signs point to a fresh hamstring issue. For a team already sliding, that matters.

Roberto De Zerbi is still waiting for his first Premier League win of the season. Spurs have spent more than £300 million, they have changed personnel, and they still look fragile. Results are poor, confidence is low, and now there is another injury concern in a problem position.

Tottenham are thin at right-back after selling Djed Spence to Inter Milan. That made Porro more important, and more exposed. The Spain international has already had a stop-start campaign after extra rest following his World Cup success in North America. He had made only three starts before this match and had only just returned from a minor muscular issue that ruled him out of the draw with Everton and the Carabao Cup loss at Liverpool.

Pedro Porro injury leaves Spurs short

This latest setback could mean another spell out. De Zerbi did not dress it up after the game. He said, “Listen, Pedro, I said after the World Cup, I said the management of Pedro should be different.” He added, “Because after the World Cup, [there are] many games. I don’t know what the problem is. It’s a hamstring, I think. Hopefully, it’s not a big problem.”

That is clear enough. The concern is obvious, and the timing is bad.

Tottenham relegation worries growing

Spurs go into the three-week international break stuck in the relegation zone and still without a league win. That is the reality. Spending heavily means nothing if the structure is wrong and key players are unavailable.

The next chance to stop the slide comes on October 10 at Old Trafford against Manchester United. Whether Porro is fit for that one remains uncertain. Right now, Tottenham have a results problem, a squad balance problem, and an injury problem. Saturday made all three harder to ignore.
