Chelsea Starting XI vs Bournemouth: Confirmed Team News and Predicted Lineup

Chelsea vs Bournemouth Predicted XI as Xabi Alonso Welcomes Back Key Names

Chelsea return to action on Saturday with a far healthier squad, and that matters. After 22 days without a match and following the 3-0 defeat at Brentford, Xabi Alonso finally has options again ahead of Bournemouth’s trip to Stamford Bridge.

The headline is simple. Several important players are back in contention. Alonso confirmed that Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo, Reece James, Cole Palmer and Marco Palestra are all available, saying: “They are ready to go tomorrow.” That is the sort of update Chelsea needed after a stop-start opening to the season.

Chelsea injury boost changes selection picture

Joao Pedro’s return is especially significant. He missed the Brentford loss and also sat out Brazil duty while working to recover from a knee issue. If fit enough to start, he gives Chelsea a central attacking focal point they have lacked. Palmer’s availability sharpens the threat between the lines, while Caicedo’s return restores order in midfield.

Reece James and Palestra also offer flexibility in the wide areas, which matters because Alonso has spent the early weeks changing shape repeatedly. Chelsea have moved between a 3-4-2-1 and a 4-2-3-1, sometimes from one week to the next, sometimes within the same game. That is either tactical adaptability or a manager still searching for his best team. Probably both.

Xabi Alonso system still evolving

One clear absentee remains Jamie Gittens, who is expected to miss a number of weeks after the ankle injury he suffered with England Under-21s. That limits Chelsea’s options in wider attacking positions and may explain why Alonso leans towards a system with Palmer and Morgan Rogers tucked inside behind the striker.

Geovany Quenda and Estevao have seen limited minutes in Chelsea’s first five Premier League matches, and there is no strong evidence yet that this is the fixture where that changes.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Bournemouth

Chelsea are expected to line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation: Martinez; Fofana, Lacroix, Colwill; Palestra, James, Caicedo, Hato; Rogers, Palmer; Joao Pedro.

Kick-off is at 3pm BST on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Stamford Bridge. The match will not be televised live in the UK because of the 3pm blackout. Bournemouth, now led by Marco Rose, will expect a test. Chelsea, with key players back, have fewer excuses.
