Chelsea and Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf, with the French international attracting growing interest from some of European football’s most ambitious clubs. His versatility, athleticism and technical development have made him an increasingly appealing prospect, although Inter’s financial expectations could complicate any potential Premier League move.
According to CaughtOffside, both London clubs have been following the 23-year-old closely, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping an eye on his progress.
Having joined Inter from Lens in August 2025, Diouf has continued to develop his reputation, with his performances for France adding further weight to the suggestion that he could eventually command a substantial transfer fee.
Chelsea and Arsenal Face Significant Andy Diouf Transfer Fee
Inter Milan appear to hold most of the negotiating power. Diouf remains under contract until June 2030, providing the Italian club with little incentive to entertain offers that fall below their valuation.

Although the midfielder is currently valued at approximately €30million, CaughtOffside reports that Inter would likely demand between €50million and €60million before seriously considering a sale.
That distinction matters. There is considerable difference between identifying a promising midfielder and committing the resources required to acquire him.
For Chelsea, whose recruitment strategy has frequently prioritised young players with considerable development potential, Diouf represents a familiar profile. His physical attributes, progressive carrying and positional flexibility offer qualities that could prove valuable in the Premier League.
Arsenal’s interest carries its own logic, particularly given Mikel Arteta’s preference for footballers capable of interpreting multiple tactical responsibilities.
Andy Diouf’s Versatility Attracts Premier League Interest
Perhaps Diouf’s greatest selling point is his ability to perform across several positions without appearing uncomfortable.
Although primarily a central midfielder, the Frenchman has also operated at wing-back and full-back, offering managers considerable freedom when adjusting their systems.
Inter coach Cristian Chivu previously praised Diouf for possessing “a carefree attitude and personality in one-on-one situations,” according to comments reported by Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is an interesting observation because confidence in individual duels has become increasingly important in modern football. Players capable of carrying possession through pressure can alter the rhythm of matches, particularly against opponents committed to aggressive pressing.
Diouf’s combination of physical strength and technical confidence could therefore make him particularly attractive to Chelsea and Arsenal.
Inter Milan Hold Strong Position Ahead of January Window
A January departure currently appears improbable. Inter have little apparent reason to weaken their squad midway through the campaign, particularly with Diouf committed to a long-term contract.
Chelsea and Arsenal must consequently determine whether their admiration warrants a substantial financial commitment.
There is also the question of opportunity. Diouf’s continued international development could strengthen his reputation further, potentially encouraging other European clubs to become more aggressive in their pursuit.
For now, scouting interest remains precisely that. Yet the reported attention from Chelsea, Arsenal, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain suggests Diouf is becoming a player whose future will attract considerable discussion.
The challenge for any interested club will be deciding whether his current abilities and potential development justify Inter’s ambitious asking price.

Our View – EPL Index Analysis
From a Chelsea supporter’s perspective, the reported interest in Andy Diouf is understandable, although there are legitimate questions about whether another expensive midfield acquisition should be a priority.
Chelsea have invested heavily in assembling a young, technically capable squad, and the recruitment department clearly places considerable importance on athleticism, versatility and long-term development.
Diouf fits that philosophy. His ability to carry possession, cover large distances and operate in several positions would provide useful tactical options. There is certainly an argument that Chelsea could benefit from another midfielder capable of breaking opposition lines through powerful forward running.
However, €50million to €60million represents a significant investment, particularly for a player whose precise role within Chelsea’s midfield would need to be established.
With Moisés Caicedo, and other midfield options already competing for minutes, supporters would reasonably expect any new arrival to offer a clearly identifiable improvement.
There is also the familiar concern surrounding Chelsea’s recruitment strategy. Accumulating talented young players only delivers meaningful progress when those individuals are given the structure, continuity and opportunities required to develop.
Arsenal’s reported interest adds another dimension. Watching a promising midfielder strengthen a direct Premier League rival would naturally frustrate Chelsea supporters, especially if he subsequently flourished in north London.
Nevertheless, recruitment decisions should be driven by squad requirements rather than competition for signatures.
Diouf looks an intriguing prospect, and his versatility would certainly appeal to Chelsea. But before committing another substantial fee, the club must be confident that he addresses a genuine tactical requirement.
Chelsea need greater consistency and a coherent pathway towards sustained success. Every significant signing should contribute directly to that objective.
