Spurs Injury Boost As Trio Near Return

Tottenham Injury Update Ahead of Leeds, Savio, Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall in Focus

There is a particular sort of managerial relief in November, when an injury list begins, at last, to contract rather than expand. For Tottenham, the visit to Leeds arrives at a delicate point in the season, poised between momentum and interruption, with Roberto De Zerbi attempting to guide his side into the international break with both rhythm and options.

The most encouraging development concerns Savio. Tottenham’s summer arrival from Manchester City had offered flashes of incision before a muscular problem halted his progress during the 1-1 draw with Manchester United in October. His recovery had been expected to stretch beyond this weekend, yet his return to training has altered the tone around his situation. Whether he is sufficiently prepared to contribute at Elland Road remains uncertain, though his presence on the grass is a significant step. In a squad that relies heavily on wide players to disturb defensive structure, even a brief comeback would matter.

Savio Return Offers Tottenham Fresh Width

Savio’s value to this Tottenham team lies in the unpredictability he lends to their attacking shape. De Zerbi’s sides tend to prize control, but they also need moments of acceleration, players capable of turning a settled possession into a dangerous one. Savio had begun to look capable of doing exactly that before his setback. The prospect of his involvement against Leeds, however limited, gives Tottenham another route into the game.

There is also a measure of good news around Archie Gray. His withdrawal at half-time in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace prompted understandable concern, particularly given how willingly he has adapted to unfamiliar defensive duties. The explanation, though, was practical rather than medical. Already booked, Gray was removed as much to manage risk as to preserve him physically. He remains available this weekend, and that will reassure De Zerbi, who has come to depend on Gray’s intelligence and calmness.

Archie Gray and Pedro Porro Ease Defensive Concerns

Gray’s selection against Palace had been shaped in part by Pedro Porro’s own fitness. The Spaniard was not ready to start, but he was ready enough to influence the game from the bench, replacing Gray after the interval. That nuance matters. Tottenham’s defensive line has had to absorb a degree of disruption in recent weeks, and the availability of both Gray and Porro gives De Zerbi scope to build his back line according to the demands of the occasion rather than simple necessity.

There are, too, signs of progress elsewhere. Lucas Bergvall, absent since suffering a knee issue against Manchester United, is edging closer. What was first thought to be a brief lay-off extended into three missed matches, but there remains a reasonable chance he could return before the break. His reintroduction would deepen Tottenham’s midfield options and restore some of the rotational freedom that injuries have denied.

Tosin Adarabioyo is another player to monitor after missing recent games, including the trip to face his former club and the win over Palace. His likely availability would be helpful, particularly with Tottenham facing a Leeds side likely to make the contest physically demanding and territorially uncomfortable.

Further down the list, the timelines become less immediate. Mykhailo Mudryk, on loan from Chelsea, remains out after an ankle injury suffered in training in September. There had been hope he might return sooner, but his recovery now appears set to run beyond the international break and into late November.

Xavi Simons offers a more intriguing medium-term possibility. After rupturing his ACL in April, his comeback had been projected for early 2027. Reports now suggest he is entering the final phase of rehabilitation and could resume first-team training this month. If that proves accurate, it would represent a considerable lift for Tottenham, not only because of his quality but because it would return another layer of invention to De Zerbi’s squad.

Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert Face Longer Waits

Wilson Odobert’s recovery is rather less defined. The French winger, working back from the ACL injury suffered against Newcastle in February, had seemed a candidate for a December return. More recent indications suggest that estimate may have been optimistic. For now, his timeline remains fluid.

For Tottenham, then, this is a week of cautious encouragement. Savio may be back in the frame, Gray is fit, Porro is available, and Bergvall is closing in. At this stage of the campaign, that is often enough. Squads are shaped as much by who returns as by who starts, and De Zerbi will travel to Leeds believing his options are beginning, slowly, to return.
