Leeds United dealt major injury worry ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash

Leeds United Injury Latest: Dominic Calvert-Lewin Doubtful for Tottenham Clash

Leeds United have a problem up front before facing Tottenham at Elland Road. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, their leading scorer this season, is a doubt after a foot setback interrupted his week.

That matters. Calvert-Lewin has five goals in all competitions and, more importantly, he has been a constant in Daniel Farke’s Premier League side. He has started all nine league matches and has rarely been taken off. Leeds know exactly what they get from him, presence, running and a focal point. Lose that for a home match against an improving Tottenham and the equation changes.

Calvert-Lewin fitness concern grows

Farke did not rule him out, but there was enough caution in his update to make it clear this is not routine. “Dominic Calvert-Lewin had a little setback with his foot as well, was not able to train with us today but I would say I am carefully optimistic that he is back in training hopefully tomorrow and then he would also be available,” Farke said.

That is about as clear as these updates get. There is hope, but no certainty. If Calvert-Lewin trains, he has a chance. If he does not, Leeds will need another solution quickly.

Joe Rodon offers boost at back

There is at least one positive. Joe Rodon is back in full training and could face his former club. For Leeds, that is timely.

Farke said: “Some mixed news during this week. Good news with Joe Rodon, he is back in full team training during this week.

“Of course he was out for quite a time but it is definitely good because he is an important player for us and, yeah, back in training.”

Leeds United injury list still unsettled

The wider picture is less encouraging. Noah Okafor and Anton Stach both remain doubts, and both are dealing with enough discomfort to limit them to individual work.

Farke said: “In the offence we still are struggling a little bit. Noah Okafor obviously missed the last game due to some adductor problems.

“He was also not able to have one team training session during this week so far, just individual work for him. So, I can’t really say if he is available for the game.

“We have two more days anyhow but so far he has not joined us in team training.

“The same for Anton Stach with foot problems. Just individual rehab work was possible, so major doubts then both if they are available. With Anton and Noah we have to see.”
